Jiménez Deredia – Time and Space in the Sculpture of Jiménez Deredia – May / September 2015

From May to September 2015, the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, Spain, hosted the exhibition “Time and Space in the Sculpture of Jiménez Deredia.” Organized by the City of Arts Museum and the Gabarrón Foundation, the event transformed the Paseo de las Artes into an open-air gallery for the Costa Rican artist’s monumental works.
The iconic architecture of the City of Arts and Sciences, designed by world-renowned architect Santiago Calatrava, provided the perfect setting for the exhibition. The circular and oval forms that define both Calatrava’s architecture and Jiménez Deredia’s sculptures guided visitors along a fluid, harmonious path—a journey inspired by the organic, simple, and linear shapes found in nature.
