The city of Shanghai invited sculptor Jiménez Deredia to participate in the Jing’An International Sculpture Project, the city’s most prestigious sculpture event. In the Jing’An Sculpture Park, Deredia installed his Genesis Canto a la Vida (Song to Life), a monumental work measuring 10 meters in length and weighing 20 tons. The sculpture was crafted from statuary white Carrara marble.
The event was sponsored by the city’s Departments of Culture, Radio, Film and Television, Tourism, and Urban Planning.
