The city of Shanghai invited sculptor Jiménez Deredia to participate in the Jing'An International Sculpture Project, the city's most prestigious sculpture event. Jiménez Deredia placed the 10-meter-long, 20-ton Genesis "Song of Life" in Jing'An Sculpture Park. The work was made of white Carrara statuary marble. The city's departments of culture, radio, film and television, tourism, and urban planning sponsored the event.
