“CREPÚSCULO”
for COSTA RICA
The 15th of February 2010 Jiménez Deredia placed his new monumental sculpture named “Crepúsculo” in the modern Costa Rican business centre “Avenida Escazu”. The work is made in bronze and weights more than 1000 kg. “Crepusculo” is 1.70 meters long, 1,70 meters high and 1,65 meters wide. The piece is inspired by the woman figure as an icon of maternity and life, and by the pre-Columbian stone sphere as an ancestral symbol of the culture of Deredia’s country of origin, Costa Rica.

MIAMI
The 10th of December 2008 Jimenez Deredia placed 3 monumental sculptures at Brickell Avenue, the most important financial centre of Miami in Florida. The works Encuentro, Continuación and Recuerdo Profundo are located at the square in front of the US Century Bank and will remain there permanently. It is the first time that this prestigious avenue is hosting monumental sculptures of contemporary art.

JIMÉNEZ DEREDIA
at the SHANGHAI EXPO 2010
The 1st of May, Jiménez Deredia will place monumental sculptures at the” Internationalo Exhibition Shanghai 2010”. Deredia was selected by his native country, Costa Rica, as an important representative of Costa Rican art in the world. In this context, Deredia was asked to place some sculptures for this significant international event. Jiménez Deredia’s works will be located at the Costa Rican Pavilion, in section C, until the 31st of October.
